Why was Jesus’ arrival proclaimed first to lowly shepherds? In part because Jesus would claim Himself to be the “Good Shepherd” who would sacrificially lay down His life for the sheep.

Bethlehem was a small and insignificant place and yet the Saviour of the world was born there. Jesus shows up in unlikely places so we will know He is all we need.

While the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season distracts us from the difficult realities of the world, Advent invites us to find hope in the midst of the darkness through the celebration of the coming of Jesus, the light of the world.
