What: In an increasingly distracted and noisy world, we need solitude more than ever. Jesus invites us to step away and be alone with Him—resting our souls and renewing our hearts for others. Join other pastors going deeper with God to love and serve more fully.

This 4-session series, based on “Practicing the Way Solitude Practice”, will meet weekly starting January 19th from 8:15 – 9:45 AM before our Sunday Morning service at Ross Road Community Church.

What To Expect

We will meet in the fireside room on Sunday Mornings between January 19th and Feb 9th (4 weeks) from 8:15-9:45 before our Sunday morning service.

Transformation happens in community. We will gather, share snacks together, watch the session video, and then break into smaller groups to discuss, reflect, and pray.

There is a companion guide with weekly spiritual exercises, recommended reading, and additional resources to help your group create life-changing daily rhythms as you apprentice under Jesus together.

Those who have the desire and energy to go further can follow along with the recommended reading, companion podcast, and weekly Reach Exercise.

The goal isn’t to “get good” at solitude but to create new daily rhythms and ways of being that open us to God’s presence and peace in more profound ways.

Session Overview:

Week 1: The Quiet Place

Week 2: Encounter with Our Self

Week 3: Encounter with Our Enemy

Week 04: Encounter with Our God

Recommended Reading

For the Solitude Practice, we’re recommending to read Invitation to Solitude and Silence by Ruth Haley Barton. Each week, you’ll be assigned readings in the Solitude Companion Guide. You will need to purchase your own book.
