And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.
Have you ever felt like the situation you were in was way over your head? As if someone who has more qualifications or a higher salary should be the person in charge of this situation. Sometimes it can feel like that with our faith. We ask ourselves, “Why would God choose us to preach the gospel to the world?”
Thankfully, God works in our weakness. The shepherds were not important figures in the time of Jesus’ birth. They were not royalty or high priests. Rather, they existed on the margins of society and were simply tending to their flocks of sheep. God uses unlikely people to carry out his mission here on Earth. We do not have to be afraid of being unqualified to share the gospel because God is with us wherever we go.
Have you ever felt unqualified to share about Jesus? How could He use you?
How has God used unlikely people to speak into your life?
Come up with a few simple, practical things you can do to share the love of Jesus throughout the week. You could write an encouragement note, or invite someone to church.
God, thank you for working through imperfect people like me. May my life be a reflection of your love and grace.
