Our Care Groups have been a place of community, support, and spiritual growth.

We want to build on this strong foundation, to do so, we will be changing the name of our “Care Groups” to “Life Groups.” We will be doing this because life groups give a more comprehensive picture of what we hope happens in these groups.

“Care” Groups connotate care is the most important thing. While this is important, it is only one aspect of what church small groups should entail. Some need support, but others need encouragement or accountability.

“Care” Groups also imply an inward focus toward those in the group. But healthy groups should be impacting the world around them. Life groups will not only support each other but also seek to make an impact beyond meetings, serving and reaching others as we go about our daily lives.

That is why we will be transitioning to calling these groups “life groups.” The term life groups insinuate that these groups are not just about meeting together once a week but developing relationships that transcend the meeting and impact one’s everyday life. It means doing life together, having meals and playdates, sending encouraging texts and praying for one another throughout the week. This includes caring for individuals in hard times but also celebrating during good times.

Since a life group focuses on everyday life it also insinuates that the group can be missional throughout their lives and encourage people to do the same.

Our mission is to help people find and follow Jesus. That isn’t confined to a couple of meetings throughout the week during “church times” but is designed to occur in the midst of everyday life.

What will change about how we run groups?

Nothing will change about how groups operate or how I support you as a group leader. The main thing this will impact is what people will expect happens in groups for those who want to join a group but haven’t been a part of a group before. People want to do life with one another and will understand that a group is about more than just caring for one another.

These groups can be groups of people who are actively discipling for the glory of God throughout all of their lives.
