This August when we hosted our Kids Soccer/Art camp, the rooms and field at our church were alive with the happy sounds of children. If you stopped by you may have heard peals of laughter at Mega’s silly antics or experienced the children’s upbeat singing during our active worship times (The Fruit of the Spirit by Uncle Charlie was definitely one of their favourites). In our art room there was a rich babble of creativity, while on the field, childrens’ chatter and exclamations of celebration rose above the staccato of soccer balls being kicked.
This Summer was the first time we had hosted a camp that incorporated both Soccer and Art. The art component was a well-received addition that gave us the opportunity to appeal to a wider variety of interests.
This year we “Set Sail!” on the Mediterranean Sea to learn more about following God. Our ship Storyteller joined us on four “Port of Calls”, Galatia, Corinth, Philippi and Ephesus, to help us learn how God shows us how to love others, give us gifts to serve others, loves spending time with us, and prepares us to share the good news!
It was a memorable adventure that we pray was both fun and impacting for the 85 kids that attended. We couldn't have done it without the 38 volunteers that shared their time and skills.
